Lone. Lost. Late.

Photobucket

Thanks to this "map"
Almost missed the run again.

I took it for granted that the starting point is near Changi Ferry Terminal just like two years back.
So I did not bother to check where exactly the exhibition centre was.
Ended up it was NO WHERE near the Changi Ferry Terminal.
The run started at 6pm.
By 6:20pm
We were still trying to hail a cab from Changi Village.
I ran past the starting line at 6:45pm.
Perhaps of that..
I spurred myself on to make sure I see somebody in front of me soon..

Photobucket

Sleep can wait.
Anytime for runs.
I lasted the lap..
The straight and serious black lap..
Then I finally see the lights..
The music was blasting when the 21km was flagged off.
A stark difference to the similar music blasting in the clubs.
I was glad I chose to soak myself in music relating to runs, not the latter with booze and more booze.
The entire cohort began running and something stirred inside me while I was cooling down..
The dark ambience was electrifying.

The emcee was spamming the microphone with
"RUN FASTER IF YOU WANT TO CATCH THE MATCH OF THE YEAR.."

And yes they did air the match live =)

*****

Photobucket

And I am really glad to have mommy and her friend wait for me at the finishing line =)

*****

The sunset was awesome last evening.

Photobucket

There's a video from the official site too..

It's really ridiculous how we travelled for more than 5 hours just for a 1 hour 4 mins of run..
Perhaps this will be my last 10km mass run?
Perhaps I may join 21km the next time.
Perhaps I may never run with the mass again.
Let's see..

Shape Run 2010

Photobucket

Finally the three of us managed to Shape Run together =)

Overslept in the morning..
And I finally understand why..
HP alarm was set to a repetition of Mondays to Fridays at 6:15 am.
I changed the timing to 5:30 am the previous night but I forgot to turn off the repetition thingy -.-
So obviously it would not ring on a Sunday morning duh..

So I'm damn damn guilty..
First I suggested cabbing the previous morning cos I thought the run was the usual Esplanade area
Then I realised they changed the run venue to Nicoll Highway.
And I dunno where to ask the cab driver to stop if we were to take a cab.
Then I read the guide again we could alight at Nicoll Highway MRT Station..
So I texted them at night to take the MRT instead.
And I overslept the next morning (well done)
And both of them had to wait for me at the station..
Go one big round we ended up cabbing again..
Air headed -.-

Ran with the post effects of fever just the night before.
I had missed Sundown, and I refused to miss this one.

The sunrise behind us was awesome.

The cobalt blue goodie bag..

Photobucket

Always the traditional jump shots after every run =D

The RED runs

It started with a morning cab ride..
Halfway through CTE, the driver mumbled that the vehicle was stalling.
And because it was an early morning, we did not absorb the words of the driver initially..

*Credits to Suki for that great shot*

Photobucket

After some phone calls,
The cab driver hailed a second cab for us.
The meter showed 15 bucks.
In fact, I was prepared to foot the fare when I asked that question.
We had come a long way..
Maybe at most asked for a discount on the amount necessary to flag the next cab.
But he did not want us to pay.
Guessed not all cab drivers are suckers for money =)
Our cab fare for the day on the second cab?
An exact 10 bucks.

The Singapore Flyer in that misty gray distance..

Photobucket

We managed to reach the starting point with enough time for some proper warm up.
And saw the first flag off..
How did we have the illusion that the response were not as good as last year..?!

Photobucket
Best of all we saw sunrise =)

*****

The morning scorching rays laid hands on my bare skin..
Sweat trickled down into my ears..
It was humid, it was hot.
I kept glancing at the possible signs beside the road..

Any signs to indicate that I had finished another kilometer..
Any water signs to spur me on..
Any signs would do.

Water breaks gave me my rights to hydration in this heat.
Or at least they gave me the excuse to walk..
That very day..
Impossible to run throughout the 10km without water and risk getting a heat stroke.
I am definitely not a morning runner..sighz
Did that make things worse?

I stopped to walk.
The strain in my calves was impossible to ignore..
The cramps in my stomach, prominent.
Stopping to walk wasn’t the best solution because once I start running again, the demon urged my next walk.
Then I saw the magic sign..
Everyone else did.
1km left.

Suddenly there was a surge in energy..
Everyone began to sprint as fast as they could.
But I maintained my speed.
Simply because it was crazy to think 1km was a short distance especially after you ran 9km.
Funny how the runners suddenly deflated after running for a mere 200m of the remaining 1km.
Gasping large mouthfuls of oxygen as much as their lungs could grant them.
That, was my point.

*****

Went to look for the guys after cooling down..
The aftermath feeling was good, damn good.
In fact,
It’s not that hard to be addicted to the accomplished sensation after a pretty good run.
The radiant flush was in their faces all right =)

Photobucket

More candid pictures..
We were really goofing around crazily with our antics..=p

Photobucket

Triumph prevails =)

GE Run 2009

A week following the Nike Run.

The GE Run organisers sent us an email to thank us for our support..
And I simply LOVEEEE this picture that came with the email..
This group belonged to the 10km runners..

Tell me, tell me..
That SG women are not crazy..

Photobucket

Just like last year,
GE Runs have always held a place for strong women..
Women who came with their young toddlers..
Women who completed the whole run cum walk pushing baby trams..
Women who were willing to forgo their beauty sleep to feel empowerment.

The weather a total contrast from last week.
Cool with slight drizzle..
And we breezed through our runs like the wind brushing through us =)
The back of the FILA top was in fact, quite unique.

Photobucket

The event just had to end with a dramatic shot-of-the-day..
LOL

Monday, October 12

The day when we decided that we could not wait for the possible discount from Nike anymore..

Popped over to the Nike shop after work..
If it wasn't for the mutual motivation, I'd probably utilize the shoes till the soles drop out..

But this stimulant did not come cheap../cry

His version

Photobucket

Mine..

Photobucket

After creating the dents in the pockets, time for dinner..
More dents..

Photobucket

The portions were definitely not for normal Asian consumption..

*****

Nine years plus..
Yes I've come this far =)
This is my fourth pair..
Which sort of confirmed the two and a half year lifespan of Nike shoes for my kind of running pattern.

I really love this pair..
Haha gotta add it's sort of a spur from dear..
And according to him, his pair is amazingly "springy" too..

Photobucket

Suki 来来 just do it..
Dump your problematic Asics..
Join me on Lunarglide =p

Friday, August 7

It was a pretty good run last evening..
Till I suddenly dashed across the road and sprinted to the police station..

You fool, you stalking fool..
The next time I shall run in to the police station.
Bloody fool.

Tuesday, July 28

The pink run.
Yan joined the mass run for the first time.
Glad that she enjoyed herself =D

Pictures overdue..
Sooo sorry that I took so long to send her the pics..=p

We were given runner tees in the shade of pink that was purrfect for magazines..

Albeit it was crazy to wake up damn early on a Sunday morning..
We derived joy from a longer day especially after a refreshing run.

SG has nothing else to offer except panoramic city views..

How could we miss out the jump shots? =p

And notice the flu-bugged Suki san was missing from the run?
We only managed to get hold of her for breakfast =p
