The Year of Madness for me

2011

It started with the ordinary mundane routine at the old company..
Work, occasional net surfing, work and then surf net again
Boring work was making me too comfortable.
Ironically getting on my nerves.

Started my paper chasing
I took the plunge and changed my job
Struggled with a culture shock
Managing overtime(s) and my course.
Getting stressed up with exams and projects.

Dear changed his job.
Managing our overtime(s) with my course
Managing our work life balance.
Managing all the above with the wedding preparations.

The wedding preparations..
Compromising between ideas and traditions..
Made my parents unhappy quite a bit
But they continued to support me selflessly and made sure everything goes well :)
Eventually we had to go through routine..
Got into many disagreements with each other..
And I shut myself out frequently.
Cried a river.

Bridal fittings, makeup trials.
Met the lovely peeps who knew exactly what I wanted.
Gurus who are already top class and are still learning :)

Pre-wed shoots, pre-wed videography..
Putting our idealistic juices together..
Meeting a lot of new faces..
Learnt a lot from their creative minds..
Made more new friends.
Bonding with the brothers and cousins..
Spending a bomb.

Managing the folks expectations..
Managing the folks' reluctance of me shifting out.
Managing Jeff's expectations..
The mind is forever minding which one comes first.
Like running on a scale that tilts one side every time I shift to the other side.
Preparing myself mentally for marriage life
Becoming a missus.

The best friend got married.
Got round the old folks tale..
Very glad we made it to each other's wedding.
Awed by the awesome troop that accompanied without complaints..
Enjoyed her wedding, love the way she tweaked her dress.
One dress, two designs :)

Don moved in and out of Finland, twice.
Like searching for a needle in the vast ocean.
Aimless into the unknown abyss.
Saw the pain in my parents' eyes, felt their hurt.
Especially right after I shifted out..
Especially after Hanli got enlisted.
My home suddenly becomes quiet.
Too quiet.

As always,
I missed my parents and my brothers.
I missed eating nothing but vegetables.
I missed stoning in my room for the entire night.
I missed running at midnight ;)

The year of 2011
The last year of my twenties.

Suki's Birthday Installment Part Two

Prelude

Mid Sept came..
Odin Yan and I received an email from Angie one day..
Yes, our dear Angie initiated this CG meet up for Suki and Yunnies =)
We did not mean to keep it as a surprise in the first place..
As we were not sure if we could do it.

Thinking that gang has not tried bowling before..
The initial suggestion was to do bowling.
Then another thought struck me..
Since the new recruit has joined us previously at With a Pinch of Salt..
I thought why not ask him to join in this planning..
Since, since..
He definitely knows Suki's every movement well =p
Kekeke..

Dropped him a message on FB, asking for his email address..
And so the hush hush scheme begins..*Tadaduh*
Hurhurhur =)

The original date was set at 3 Oct..
But Pail would not be available that weekend..
Hence we had to postpone it to the unanimously agreeable date 10 Oct.
And Pail agreed to make sure Suki's free on that day.

The next thing we know,
The 10 Oct on her blog calendar was striked off as not available..
Wahahahha..

The Monday noon before 10 Oct..

Sent out the list of choices of food and activities for the gang to vote:

Either bowling and meal..
Or KTV and meal
Or meal and movie.

Then Monday night before 10 Oct..

Went Yoga with Suki.
On our way home, the conversation between us was quite interesting,
At least I thought =p
Not the exact words though..

Suki: Maybe one day we should find one day CG meet up bring our dogs out..
Me: Yea..not a bad idea..CG also haven't met up for a long time..
Suki: Yea lor..but Odin recently sOOoo busy..
Me: Uh...oh really ah..
(Trying very hard not to stare too hard, I managed to changed the topic)

Bowling is definitely hard to coordinate..
Given that the lanes are almost always occupied.
Cant possibly have the whole gang waiting for an unknown time frame.

How about KTV..?
Well Suki suddenly took two days MC on Tue and Wed..
Angie and I were still wondering if she could sing or not..
So I tried sounding her out in a manner I hope that was not too obvious.
Nope she did not have sore throat, and Pail verified it.
But Yun could not make it the last minute.
That was when we decided on a simple meal and movie..
And since it was just a simple meal and movie, might as well make it a surprise =D

Perhaps it's the theme of the cafe..
Or perhaps it's like the sequel to With a Pinch of Salt..
Everyone seemed to decide on Miss Clarity without any hesitation..
Furthermore, the reviews said that the cafe did not have GST and was relatively easy on the pockets =)

For movie choices,
We settled on Surrogates =)

The procedures that followed came and gone in a blink of the eye..
Made the reservations at the Purvis outlet @ 14:30,
Booked the movie tickets online for the 17:40 show.
Guessed the only hiccup was that my final email did not reach them..
*Scratch head*

Hence I had to sms everyone the plans for Saturday, just in case.
I also reminded Pail to remind Suki bring her jacket and of course, DSLR.
By then, he was still having a headache on what excuses to make to lure her there..
Hurhurhur..

The next thing we knew, Angie told us Pail was going to bring her to the National Library..
LOL

PS: Hoho Suki san, this is for you..=D

*****

Saturday 13:30..
The first group met at Khatib Mac..
Off we went in dear's car to Beach Road..
In the car, Yan showed us her present..
Shopping Diva clay container..
Packed neatly in a panda prints paper bag.
Laughed my head off..
A shopping panda heh heh..
What a perfect reminder to shop when there's not much work in office indeed..
And the one thing that I really loved was Yan's delicate efforts to cut out the heart shapes and gave each of us a piece to write wishes on it =)

Arrived at Miss Clarity 14:20.
Went in and settled down quickly..
For once we were early..
The cafe is an all hot pink one..
Hard to miss it as we walked down Purvis Street..

Photobucket

The plan was on its way to success.
We messaged Pail, not expecting a response.
Then it was Jeff's turn to write his well wishes..
Odin and Yan were drawing on the present's box.
A panda's frequent food is bamboo..
Hence Jeff suggested drawing the mahjong tiles with two and seven bamboo shoots respectively.
Odin executed it =)

Photobucket

Thereafter Yan and I were thinking..
HOW on earth to lure Suki away for Pail to write his wishes..?
Maybe I shall ask Suki if she wants to go toilet..?
Or maybe we shall ask if Pail wants to go toilet with the heart shaped papers..?

Then Odin suddenly announced that Pail and Suki had arrived..
We were making a fair bit of noise in the cafe when we saw her brief bewildered look.
Hahaha..
She was wearing a white panda tee..o.0
And the first thing Pail said?

"Yeah ~! 成功成功 ~!"

Hurhurhur..
We were all grinning from ear to ear..
Damn fun la..

Photobucket

Our food orders came.
The set meals were pretty decent and wholesome =)
They even had an appetizing pre-starter Amuse Bouche that came in a small cup that looked like those meant for drinking alcoholic shots.
We only knew it was fish..

Photobucket

With the level of noise we were creating..
It's hard to believe that we are all true blue working adults >,<

Photobucket

We were still cracking our heads how to ask Suki go to the toilet so that Pail could write his well wishes..
And EVERYTHING failed when someone suddenly asked where the toilet was and Suki merely pointed to the direction and said "There.." as if she knew the toilet was a one cubicle only plus she totally had no intention of going to the ladies >,<

Then being the ever observant person she is..
She caught our weird looks and volunteered to walk out of the cafe for the gang to finish what they were supposed to finish.
I went out with her to take more pictures.

When our idling time outside the cafe became a tad too long..
Pail and Jeff came out only to find Suki on the ground and me off the ground..
LOL

Photobucket

Thereafter the rest came to join us..

After the movie,
We proceeded to search for some light dinner cum desserts..

Fruits Paradise @ Orchard Central

Been wanting to try this out for the longest time possible.
Fruits plus tarts are a killer combination for me.
I will NEVER leave a fully baked bottom crust unfinished, not even the crumbs =p

Photobucket

Patronising in a big group would mean having a little taste of each.
Hurhurhur..
Absolute gluttony..!

Before the desserts are served..
Some of us stoned in low battery..

Photobucket

After the desserts..
See what sugar had done..

Photobucket

With this shall spell the end of the day..
What a helluva eccentric day..
Please pardon the intensive picture galore =p

Last weekend updates..
We went a little overboard on food =x

*****

Sunday came and we popped by Comex for some office projectors again.
Comex seemed an exhibition for Epson projectors as far as we are concerned.

At least this time round,
The exhibition was breathable as compared to the previous round.

Then brought dear to MOF..
And he went gaga on their menu..
LOL

MOF Cuisine

Gosh..
We definitely have an unforgivable weakness for Japanese food..o.0

Finally found a ramen that reminded us of the same curly noodles we had at Lake Toya.
Damn hard to find those nowadays as most Jap dining areas served straight ones.

I actually prefer the curly ones over the straight ones =p
