Thursday, August 27

Damn bugging question of the day:

What can you get for the 70th Birthday of your big boss who is a damn rich Peranakan who cannot speak and read Chinese and happens to be quite traditional?

This was one of the reasons we stepped into town last Saturday.

The other reason being..
We are going on a date to somewhere familar =)

We finally gave in to that craving..
Left over from the previous visit we made during Odin's birthday meetup.

Had a late lunch or rather early dinner..

The taste of Ootoya..
Not that common as compared to the rest of the localised Jap eateries we tried previously.
We knew naught how to describe those tastes, just that we enjoyed the meal very much =)
And yesss..
Both Suki and Yan were damn right on the porridge =p

Finally the dessert with the green tea mousse was not out of stock.
Indeed a real satisfying authentic Japanese meal..

Except for someone whose chopsticks skill is not there yet and could not eat his meal in a Jap manner =p

lunch or dinner

Then it was time to search for that present.
A real headache.
The budget was priced around $200-$300..

A spawn off from the rest of the colleagues whom asked if dear wanted to share with them.

We briefly walked around Orchard Central..
Nothing to buy.

Then we ended up in Ngee Ann City,
Thought we shall go straight to the ground level's hign-end boutiques to take a look.
That..
That that helluva of bird shit costs a BOMB..
The cheapest pen costs $500 plus??!
-_______-lll
Our spirits hit pit bottom.
Any other ideas on such birthday presents besides a golden egg, a calligraphy piece, a fortune cat, a golden pig / cow / horse..?

*****

Walking through the stretch of Orchard Road..
Unless you work there everyday..
You will still be awed by the speed of the renovations or new constructions..
Well at least I was..

Even though I had been there just not long ago.
That explains the total culture shock to dear who hadnt really walked through town for donkey years.

We finally stepped foot into Ion.
In fact the four basement concept did not give me a sense of security.
Somewhat messy and claustrophobic.

We left very soon.
Proceeded to Far East where we felt it was a more humane place to be in.
I spent exactly what I set out to buy this time =)

It has been some time when we walked aimlessly and only to stop for a break at this little dessert shop.
Very interesting and yummy desserts they have.

*****

At the end of the day..
That present still remained unsolved.
Any ideas anyone?
