Settings all pure Victorian..

Where corsets, hats and feathers as well as the decadent lifestyles of the rich dictates.

If you ask me,

This show is nowhere near the glorified big fashion name Chanel.

Rather the movie focused on the thoughts and conventions of the founder.

Her struggle against poverty and the norms in the male dominated society.

And Audrey Tautou was really a darling.

Her fantastic acting makes you forget that she once acted in Da Vinci code and Priceless..

Those steely scrutinizing eyes sparkled once they set sight on new ideas, new fabric styles.

Perfectly portrayed the lady as strong and curt on the outside..

But in fact that quick wittedness was merely used to hide that fragile inner self.

Dressed like a boy..

She believed women should dress comfortably for themselves..

Not anyone else.

The lady strongly defended and stood unfaltering to her ideals.

And changes the perception that only tight corsets attract men.

Yes corsets back then did attract men..

Lustful ones.

Her true self attracted the smart ones instead =)

Her intellectual connection with the love of her life is really intriguing.

Alessandro Nivola who played her love interest has extremely brooding and contemplating eyes for a guy..

Eyes that speak a million words and eyes that melt hearts..

Damn charming..

So far those French films that made it to our big screens never fail to impress.

This is not an exception.
