Friday, July 24

Since two weeks ago..
We been hearing the adverts on radio..
The iconic hilltop destination.
So we thought we shall give it a try one day.
This shalt be the day.

Did meagre research..
Reviews on it were not that fantastic, but we went ahead anyway.
Decided on the day cos Mount Faber is really a beauty in bright daylight.

There were no carparks near the vincinity so we had to park a distance away and then walk downhill..
Snapped a couple of pictures along the way.
To which the scenery was a huge plus to distract our attention.

We saw the restaurants mentioned in the website alright.
Sturdy structures were pretty decent and unique.
The natural views were always constantly appreciated.
Tourists were queueing for the cable cars..
And only the Sapphire and Empress Jade were opened.
The patrons in there were tourists who probably needed a couple of drinks, nothing else.

So did we try them out?
Nope.
We settled for this at Vivo instead.

Though we have dined at Marche countless times,
We always never fail to feel the whole Swiss cottage ambience.
The glass panels further completed the wholesome image =)

Honestly speaking,
The iconic marketing part for Jewel Box was a total disappointment.
Perhaps the night dining would be better.
But then again
We do not fancy drinking that much.
And we definitely derived more gratification from Marche.

With Mount Faber as such a natural plus factor..
The group behind the iconic group could have spent a little more on the food variety instead of spamming adverts on televisions and radios.
You do not need to push awareness for such natural settings if your food is good.
See how the PS cafe is doing so well at Harding Road and they do not need any advertisments or tremendous marketing effort.
If you ask me, the natural view at Mount Faber has so much more to offer as compared to Demsey..
Why the lack of patronage?

On a side note
We saw the Empress Jade recommendation on 都市大发现 the following week.
It was..
Really food court food given a phoenix-like makeover.
And then marketed and priced on the high end in the hope of disguising them as gourmet cuisine.
Nothing to rave about, nothing special.

*****

After a very heavily satisfied meal..
We took a walk around Vivo before our movie.
The we chanced upon this new musuem-like shop.

Very very interesting.
We thought we had walked into another exhibition till we saw the price tags..
LOL
Vintage stuff on sale.

The items on display are a feast for the eyes even if you are not an ardent buyer =)
