Leadership seminar for 2 days..
Albeit things covered were stuff that we were all familar with,
the workshop served as a good brushing up of priceless values that are so forlornly forgotten.
In the course of work, we do need such sessions..
Be it a good break from the mundane work or to refresh our lost selves..
During the 2 days, strings of thoughts and concepts flowed through me..
And I believed all the bosses had the same sentiments..
Sometimes,
We are simply too preoccupied with the faults of others that we forget to seek deep within us..
That our complaints have blinded us beyond our most basic appreciation for simple things..
How we fail to realise that the way people respond are sometimes the consequences of our very own undoing..
Or merely guided by their own values..
We can choose whether we want to be a manager by authority or a real leader that holds real power..
How leaders need to listen, not mere hearing.
That issues dealt in certain manner do not mean wrong exactly, just a different way of handling them..
How to balance 13 nails on one nail attached to a wooden block etc etc =p
The workshop is conducted at the Chinese Swimming Club..
A nice place, but the food was average..
The bosses fed us like pigs..
After two days of mingling with them,
they are not that intimidating as they appear to be..
Human beings are indeed creatures cut out to communicate, to fraternize with each other..
Else easily misunderstood..
Because of this inspiring session,
the bosses suddenly seemed so filled with ideas of how to improve their leadership innates..
Ideas like urging one another to hold regular inter-departmental meetings, cross departmental training, re-training, more effective communication across board sprung out of nowhere and somewhat subtly spells the realistic NATO.
